About the Artist

Mariann is a Northwest Indiana (NWI) resident, moving to the region in 2018 after living in other Midwest metro areas over the previous 40 years. Like many artists, she pursued a career in art following high school graduation, attending the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. And, like many artists, that pursuit was interrupted by marriage, starting a family, and careers in occupations other than art. 

As the prospect of retirement neared, Mariann enrolled in the Botanical Arts Certificate program at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, using pen and ink, watercolor colored pencil and pastels, taught by many notable artists. However, it wasn't until moving to NWI and studying with the artists at the Art Barn in Valparaiso IN that she began to seriously pursue her passion for creating her art in pastels.
